Before I discuss Target Visa, I want to wish everyone an early Happy new year and.. MP$40 - I was very saddened to read your thread regarding your son's bicycle accident. On to Target.... As some of you may know, I was very pleased to receive a $10K card at 12.9% apr. with a rewards program recently. My first bill is for the interval ending 12-9-2001. The bill was mailed from South Dakota on 12-21-2001 and received by me in California on 12-26-2001. It is due in Minnesota on 1-3-2002. I paid the bill at the local Target store today. What irritates me is that there is a $29 late payment fee should my payment be received after the due date. Also, in the attached disclosure - Target reserves the right to increase the apr. if a late payment is received. In a holiday season, the chances that a payment made by mail will be received by Target by 1-3-2002 are close to nil. When you new account holders get your Target visa bill, pay attention to the payment due date. Jim
You can pay the bill AT TARGET? Smart for them. the regular red Target card payments post immediately. wonder if the visa would too.
Hi Marie!!! Yes, I just walked in the front door and paid the bill via check on the spot. The rep. gave me a receipt and it appears that my account was paid off today. My other visa/mc's provide me up to 3 weeks to pay the amount due. Therefore, I was very surprised to see this Target visa bill due and payable almost immediately after receiving it in the mail. I hope all is well with you. Keep us posted on your legal research and possible lawsuit. Jim
I would call and tell them you just got the bill today and it is due on Tuesday...Will they pay for FEDEX so it is on time???
Herman - Thanks for the input! I am happy that you did not get a late charge etc. GEORGE - all I can say is LOL!!! - But seriously, if I had not paid attention to the due date - I might have done what you have suggested. Best regards, Jim
Re: Got Target Visa bill-Watch out! Jim, Thanks for your warning. I just called their customer service and my statement will come out 11th of every month and my payment due date is between 3 and 8. I just didn't want they charge me $29 and past due in my credit report. I knew you can pay inside Target Store. Ron.
Thanks Jim...I appreciate that (and thanks to others as well...) I can't believe Target....that is ludicrous. To ensure that all of my credit card bills are paid on time, I have my Outlook calendar set to notify me 5 days before the due date. I know you don't have a problem paying your bills on time...that's not my point. What I was getting at is that maybe you might want to make a note (like I have) of when your billing cycle ends for each card. Then make a payment (anyway you can) a few days following that. I do that just to be on the safe side and it actually works. I always get my bill in the mail and it's always nice to know that I've already paid it. I know you just got this card, but this is just some friendly advice for in the future. I remember the times where I would get a bill in the mail and immediately either mail it back out with a payment or go on line. Nowadays, that's not even good enough! Sad but true....it's almost like they do this intentionally to get that late fee money.
I pay the target card---(not visa) online and it posts the next day. Do they not have the same option for the Visa?
Whenever I get a new card in hand I call the Customer Service Number and ask: What is my closing day and when is the payment due. Target Visa said my closing would be Jan 8 and the Payment due Feb 3. A simple call saves much trouble. H
Re: Got Target Visa bill-Watch out! Ron, The payment adress is : Mail payments to: Retailers National Bank c/o Target Credit Services P.O. Box 59317 Minneapolis, MN 55459-0317 Ron
MP$40 - This was such great advice for people on the board that it is too bad it is buried in this thread. I have already noted on my planner 6 months out when the Target billing cycle ends in order to keep track of the payment date. Jim
They are in violation of the FBA.They have To present the bill to you at least 2 Wks. before the due date! What the h*** does the seasons of the year have to do with APR? What is the penalty if your payment is received on a rainy day??
