Hey All, To those that remember my plight, I was trying desperately to secure a loan for a car. My CU initially approved me but wanted a co-signer, so I couldn't go with that option. Finally, as a last-ditch effort, I put all of my baddies in dispute and applied with Household Bank. I was approved and my husband and I went to go buy our car this past weekend! To those who don't think it's possible, try, try, and try again. LB
HORRIBLE RATES! But, I've been denied EVERYWHERE including at dealerships so I had to take what I can get and refinance 6 months to a year from now. The loan is for 60 months but I don't expect to keep it with Household for more than a year. I just needed to get my foot in the door. LB
LB, Pay 1.5X the minimum on the car note, if not more, and refi with a CU, then a bank, and then with Wells Fargo Financial. Then try Cap One Auto finance. I refi'ed 3 times in order to get my current car rate (23.99% to 7.99%). Throw every bit of extra money at the car note, and you'll thank yourself at refi time.
Congrats. So what was your score before you put the items into dispute, then what was your score at the dealership? TY
