I had requested validation from a CRA regarding a medical bill, and got photocopies of what looks like medical records of the visit with amounts due. My signature card from the letter says it was received 6/7, I got this today, 7/23. Both of these (two bills are referenced in the papers) were supposed to be handled by charity care. Oh, and the mini miranda was stamped on both of them. (attempt to collect w/o proper validation, I am assuming) So - what should I do? Write back saying "you're too late?" Call and complain to the OC, or contact the charity care office?
First, I read your post and you said you sent a validation notice to a CRA??? Is that correct? You dispute with CRA's, you send Validation notices to CA's and you just hope an OC will verify that you have an application with them. I believe, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that there is no time limit to validate the debt, so long as they don't continue to report it to the Bureau, or continue collection activities against you. The Bureau would have to delete, after your dispute and the CA not verifying the info... make sense. The whole purpose of the 1-2 punch.... Good luck, and remember, CRA=transunion, equifax, experian, chex, etc. CA=Collection agency OC= Original Creditor

Oops. I did ask for validation from CA, misstyped. I know this is not proper validation though (no application, nothing with my signature) - so what do I do? One of the pages even has listed: "Applied for Charity Care" as status of the account.
Ok, this is clearly not validation as the recordd is incomplete and there is no agreement. Will request validation again in a letter on Monday. Should I "School" them, and point out what they should include or how they failed, or just state it is imporoper/incomplete validation of the debt?
