I got a couple of green cards back today that are signed, but not dated.

    Is this a problem?

I have added to my notes the day I received them back so that I now they got them between a certain set of dates that way.

easy, go to the usps website. track the cards, and print out the delivery confirmations, then staple the confirmation to the green card, and your copy of the letter sent.

WOW, a question I can answer and be sure that I am accurate, and not giving wrong information.

You "DID" have to go to the POST OFFICE with your receipt and ask for DUPLICATE ORDER OF SERVICE...
    It is FREE

If you can go to www.usps.com (Track & Confirm) fine...WHAT-EVER IS EASIER FOR YOU

You indicate that you were able to go to the USPS website and pull up your tracking information which is good; apparently your letter was scanned by the USPS all during the delivery process.

I mailed a certified letter to a CA last week which wasn't scanned by the post office on the receiving end but was scanned by my local post office the day I mailed it.

Since it wasn't scanned at no other time during the entire delivery process except when I mailed it I didn't receive any further updates by email from the USPS website except for when I mailed it but I did eventually receive my RR "Green Card" back which was signed and dated.

Although I couldn't make out the signature on the RR "Green Card" as well as also there was no name printed above the signature the card was dated when it was received.

Come to find out my certified letter was picked up at the post office by a mail courier service; signed quickly as well as stamped the date it was received.

I was able to contact the station manager of my local post office where I mailed my certified letter who contacted the other post office on the receiving end and he was able to inquire as to the name of the courier service who picked up my letter and also who actually signed for and received it.

Once my post office's station manager had that information for me; he contacted me and faxed it to
me. As for your card not having a date; luckily for you since it was scanned all along the way; you were able to determine the actual date of delivery.

Had it not been scanned as was my case; and had your letter been picked up and delivered by a mail courier service as was also my case and wasn't recorded on a detail log report listing all mail items picked up by a mail courier service; you might have had a problem according to my local post office.

No scan; no record; no log or recording on a journal; again no record; no date on your RR "Green Card" a definite no record of when your letter was actually delivered and received but luckily for you; your letter was obviously scanned otherwise you'd had a problem.

I made it a RULE that I sent my card back with the REQUEST TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT LETTER (TAPED ON IT)...I always sent it CERTIFIED R/R and I rarely got a SIGNATURE OR DATE...(sometimes I never even got the green card back)...so they sent that DUPLICATE ORDER OF SERVICE...the POST OFFICE knew what I wanted before I asked...

I guess that is part of my F.I.C.O. score problem CLOSING TOO MANY TOO FAST...(PRE CREDITNET DAYS)

I "THINK" the POST OFFICE might get REPRIMANDED if they have too many people that don't get what you paid for...DATE AND SIGNATURE...AND THE GREEN CARD RETURNED

    George:

I had such a problem a few years ago where I was required to send RR certified mail to a physical business address for a CPA in Jackson, MS.

I sent four; (4) letters in one; (1) week; received all four; (4) RR "Green Cards" back with absolutely nothing on them; no signature; no printed name; no date; nothing.

I then contacted the station manager at the local area post office that handled my mail; the post office responsible for delivering the mail to the CPA's office but unfortunately I got nowhere with him.

I took it a notch further by contacting the postmaster over all of the post offices in the Jackson, MS area and also faxed him copies of my receipts where I had paid for that extra service as well as copies of all of my RR "Green Cards" which I had received back blank with no information.

The station manager received a strict reprimand so I was later told after receiving a phone call from that area postmaster's office not to mention from that day forward I never did receive any more blank RR "Green Cards" from the Jackson, MS area; they all came back with the necessary information.

Talk about lazy people working for the USPS; I'd like to know what was on that letter carrier's mind when he delivered my certified letters out on his route? If he had any lengthy experience working for the USPS he should know that it was his job to see to it that those RR "Green Cards" were signed and dated first before agreeing to accept them back from the mail recipient before returning them back to me; talk about lazy people.

O.K. if you say so George. I thought the topic of discussion was what; if any recourse is available to anyone who pays for and sends RR Certified Mail to anyone and receives absolutely nothing in return on those RR "Green Cards" after having paid for that extra service to the USPS. I thought that was the discussion topic.

    George:

Re-read my detailed post listed above. I believe I made that same point perfectly clear. George; if I can ask; why won't anybody listen to you? Could it be because you type all of your posts in "CAPS"?
