A long time ago I decided to sign up with some outfit called Green Country. It was a (2) part program. The first part gave me a credit card for "Spirit Bank", and part two was membership into the Green Country program. This was supposed to help people get back on their feet. Well, this was the most irresponsible time in my life, and I screwed it all up anyway. Now I have a $844 NEVER PAID fee on my credit reportfrom them through a collection agency called CFG Acceptance. It shows (2) 30-59, (1) 60-89, (2) 90+. Now, I called the company (bankers bank) regarding the credit card. They told me that the company "Green Country" got sued, and that as part of the settlement EVERYONE was to have this membership fee REMOVED from their credit reports. Can anyone help me here? ANyone know anything about this? Thanks Deputy
Hi Deputy - I actually remember something about Spirit Bank - but did not know about Green Country. Sounds like you could challenge on bureaus that this company was challenged then sued in court for bogus customer charges - NOT REQUESTED BY CONSUMER! they should remove from the reports after 30 or 60 days. I would not screw with the bankers bank. Others may have different advice. best regards - dogman
You should have been a party to the settlement. So the first thing I would do, is get a copy of the settlement. One you ascertain this information, I would send a copy to the collection agency and validate the debt. Your settlement agreement, should outweigh any contractual obligations that they believe to hold against you. Then I would, at the same time, dispute with the CRA's. After they verify the debt, you can send them a copy of the settlement. If that doesnt work, come back for more info.
