Some of you may recall my story of when my Providian account was sold to Chase. I was quite happy!!!
After about a year of perfect payments, no lates, overlimits, nothing! I paid it off and they promptly cut my credit limit a couple of thousand dollars to a mere 600.00 and raised my already high interest to 24.99%!!
I called & sent letters but to no avail. They would not budge. I decided I would not use them anymore for obvious reasons but wanted to keep the tradeline open. I have been charging a meal out or a tank of gas every couple of months, then paying it off to keep it active.
So today I log in to pay off my 28.00 balance AND THE BASTARDS CUT MY CREDIT LIMIT DOWN TO 200.00!!!!!
Not only that, but they changed their website and I cannot find a way of paying on line.
Did I mention I really really REALLY HATE CHASE!!!!!

I'd thought about doing business with Chase.

But tell ya what; a lot of people are having trouble with these Jokers. I'm even helping a couple people on lawsuits against them.

Not me. I'd close it and make sure it says "closed by consumer".

Did they give you an explanation for lowering your limit? They may have based it off activity from your other cards. Check and see if they have pulled any soft's on your credit report.

    Join the club.

That's what we got. And don't bother asking for a reason. When my DH's scores were steadily improving, Chase reason for a rate hike was that DH's scores were going down.

Their customer service is godawful, in my opinion. Sometimes, they were downright rude to us.

    Never again.

Yes, they pull a soft inquiry about every other month. They never did give me a reason last time and I"m sure I won't get one this time. My score is about 40 points higher than it was when they took over my Providian account.
At this point I could care less. I hate them with a passion and will never do business with them again. I would like to pay off the 28.00 balance and close it before they close it on me.
Anybody else here have Chase and have logged in recently. The site seems to have changed and there is no way to pay the bill. I wouldn't put it past them to count on people logging in to pay their bill, finding out they can't and then being late by time they mail in the payment.
I was never given notification of any changes they were making to my account. I am one of those people that actually read those little inserts too. I'm sure I'll get something in a month or so. I'm sure glad I didn't try using it at Christmas just to be humiliated when it was declined.
    Chase is pure EVIL!!

Bill pay is under chase.presentment.com. But, you cannot go to that site directly. I just tried and received an error message. Then, I was re-directed to chaseonline.com

Hmm, weird. Chaseonline.com brings me to some guys website. I see where I can sign up for chaseonline plus which is a bill payment service. I guess I could re-sign up using that.
Their site used to have a link right on the page to pay your bill. That is gone.

I followed that link & logged in. It brought me back to the same screen I was in before with no option to pay my bill.
I went ahead and signed up for their chaseonlineplus. Logged in through there and it again took me back to this same screen.
When you log in, do you see an option to pay your bill?

I do beleive that the Federal Equal Credit Opportunity Act does require Chase to provide you with acceptable written disclosure of the reasons why they have taken such action! The following is excerpted from the FTC website:

Acceptable reasons include: "Your income was low," or "You havenâ??t been employed long enough."

Unacceptable reasons are: "You didnâ??t meet our minimum standards," or "You didnâ??t receive enough points on our credit-scoring system."

Indefinite and vague reasons are illegal, and you should ask Chase to be more specific.

You can also find out why you were offered less favorable terms than you applied forâ??unless you accept the terms. Examples of less favorable terms include higher finance charges or less money than requested.

Find out why your account was closed or why the terms of the account were made less favorable unless the account was inactive or delinquent.

Unfortunately I am not sure what the process is for seeking legal relief in such cases, nor am I aware of what, if any, monetary penalties/releif might be afforded in such a case.

I pay Chase online each month from the link on my account page when I sign in at http://www.chase.com/.

On the Account Summary Page, you can either link to the Bill Payment process by using the link at the left of the page that says "View and Pay Bill" or by using the "Pay Bill" icon underneath the Payment Information section on the Account Summary Page.

If you signed up to pay online, The Bill Management Center sends you an email when your statement is ready. At that time, you can schedule a payment. After scheduling a payment, you can use the "View and Pay Bill" link to review status of payment, revise it or review history of payments.

Chase's website logs you off after a certain period of inactivity to protect your account page, etc.

To date, I have had no problems with Chase. It has lowered my purchase APR and extended my zero percent deal ending in February to December 2004, so I had them send me another bunch of money to use at zero percent.

Some people have good experiences with Chase; others don't....and the reasons vary. With the number of revolving accounts I had, Chase gave me an initial credit line of $10,000..but I had to submit info to verify address, identity, etc. because of the National Security Push.

I was really surprised that Chase approved me for this amount and for the extension of the zero percent offer...but it has come in very handy. The future will tell more about the Chase relationship as it has only been almost 11 months.

Same here - no complaints yet. But, I have only had my card for a month. This thread had me concerned as this is my everyday use card.

I have paid Chase on line ever since I got it over a year ago. The screen FOR ME now is different. It is not the same at all. It gives me my credit limit, balance and available credit. To the left it asks me if I want to send customer service a message (you better believe I did). It asks if I want to change my e-mail address, edit account services, change password, change address and sign on for Chaseonline Plus. I did try that and it was just a method for me to put all my accounts on Chase, when I put Chase on it, it just sent me back to this same screen. I have clicked on every single thing there, there is no option to pay my bill.
I think I have been downgraded to the worst of the worst, we'll do anything we can to get rid of her, website. I feel like scum!!

You don't have a pop up blocker keeping the payment screen from coming up do you?

I personally hate the way Chase's website is set up compared to others!

Chase has been awesome for my family as well.. They approved my mom an account with a $5K limit. When the balance transfers came in and were close to $5K they immediately increased her limit to $10K with no questions asked!

We make online payments. View accounts online. etc. no difficulties.

When one has a dent or ding on their credit then creditors tend to look differently at people. If you have no derogatory credit on any credit bureau and no lates with Chase then they wont take negative action.

Some years ago I had an account with Mellon Bank and I had some lates reported to my credit report but had an excellent payment history with Mellon. Mellon lowered my credit limit based on what was reported to the credit bureau.
