When I got home this afternoon and checked the mail the only piece of mail was from Providian. Guess what it was? A check for a whole 2 cents!

I know Providian was involved in some class action lawsuit. But a check for 2 cents? Was it worth it? It will cost more for the bank to process the deposit! What a joke!

I know people usually only do this with relatives who win the lottery, but what the heck... Would you be able to share a portion of your winnings?

    Thanks.

    I want some too...

    :)

PLEASE TAKE IT TO A "CHECK CASHING" place that charges a % of the check, and ask them how much to cash it ?????

    :)

ROFLMAO! Not a bad idea George. They'll probably want my driver's license for ID too. Then probably refuse to cash it when I tell them I accidently left it at home.

Okay George, trying to cut up a sliver of a share for you :)

Okay, let's see...Randy wants a share, George wants a share, we'll throw in a share for Nana even though she didn't ask, and then my share. Now I am splitting this up in equal shares, so George I am now writing out a check to you for .005. Now I would like you to go to the check cashing place and just so I bring enough money with me, let me know what they charge you. I think it might be a percentage of the total check. LOL

George, OMG you caught me! I was just slipping the envelope into the mail box outside without the stamp! You see I was going to the post office to buy stamps, but all I have to my name is this .02 check until payday. I wanted to be generous and share my "good fortune," and I didn't want anyone to have to wait. So I was going to mail the check without the postage and hope the postal service wouldn't notice. Then I was going to let you know that the "check is in the mail." ROFL

    Shame on me!

That kind of remind me of when I was in MAINE visiting my aunt and uncle...I called them from a pay phone. It ripped me off for $0.10. I asked for a credit on the next phone call I was making, they said it does not work that way. So I got in the mail a check for $0.10.

I should have said I was my uncle, so they could have credited his phone!!!!

LOL, actually a two cent check from Providian is hilarious. I wouldn't cash it -- tack it up on your bulletin board. Better yet, go to Kmart and buy a 50 cent frame for it (with your Kmart MasterCard, of course).

You know, when you say "JUST MY 2 Cents Worth," you'll really mean it!!

And, thanks for my share..I spent the evening figuring out how to leave it in my will for my 2 kids!

I know. I think it is making me just a little too giddy for my own good! I read it a little while ago and it is actually excess money from a fund that Providian agreed to set up as settlement from the lawsuit. It states that it is leftovers from the first checks sent out that people never cashed. Yes, this is what the explanation really says. Really ROFL now!

Re: Guess What I Got from Providian

Shame on those first claimants for not cashing their checks! I think this is a conspiracy so that Providian will end up with most of the money they put in reserve for this suit back in their pockets!

They should have sent you a postage paid letter to give them a credit card # to put the credit on...

Wait George! I do have a postage paid envelope. I received an offer for a clear Providian card with the smart chip last week! Maybe I can secure the new card with the check!

    George, you're awsome, thanks!

Re: Guess What I Got from Providian

Well then, I guess I will just have to secure it with my .005 share. If they work the same way that FCNB does 300% of my deposit equals a .015 credit line! Now, I am really on my way to rebuilding my credit. After a couple of months of on-time payments, maybe they will reduce my 23.99% APR! Wow!

    (Applying now as I type.)
