    Hi Four20

    If you do a search for 1099 here you will see Flyingifr is correct. I don't think he was trying to flame you but correct some incorrect info you were giving.

    While getting a 1099 for a partial paid/settled debt is normal, has anyone else gotten one for a charge off? Thanks all.

    I don't understand what you are asking me. For whatever tax year the 1099C is for, you dispute it with the IRS by showing the CA letter showing it was not forgiven. You do that when you get the CP2000 letter asking why you didn't include it as income.

    The CA you show the 1099C so they will be on notice that they are collectinga debt taht the OC has forgiven. This strategy gets you out of BOTH debts - the original debt and the tax debt.

    Ok, now tell me the best way to dispute this on my CR's please? It's one of 2 negs left. Should I just go the 0 balance, or not mine?

    Always go Not Mine first. By going Zero Balance you admit it's yours.
