ok....here's the scoop... Had charge off w/original creditor which sold acct to Gulf State. Gulf State later sold account to new CA. Paid the account (5 years old) and before i knew about this board. For last 8 months, Original creditor was reporting as charged aoff w/ bal. gulf state was reporting collection w/ balance (not sold or transferred) and new ca was reporting collection w/ balance (although I had paid) Disputed all three w/ EXP.... Results: original Creditor; DELETED GULF STATE: UPDATED TO PAID CHARGE OFF!!!! (I never paid THEM SH*&!!!!) NEW CA: UPDATED TO PAID C/O. Can Gulf STATE report as such if they had sold the acct???? How would they have knowledge of it being paid?? I am now in the process of sending Nutcase to New CA, but which letter should I send to Gulf????
Who is the new ca that you paid? In any event, you might want to dispute it with the cra's as a duplicate acct.
The new CA is Challenger. They screwed up for reporting incorrectly after it was paid for 8 months, so I have a nice letter I'm sending them... But how in the hell did Gulf State verify as paid acct/charge off if they had sold it???
