I have an entry on my Experian credit report from Gulf State Credit LLC. It shows as "Transferred/past due 180 days" The original accoutn was with Citibank and was charged off in 12/95. The entry does not show when the entry is scheduled to come off the report like all of the other entries on the report. Any suggestions on how to get this removed or at least updated to show it will be removed in 12/02? I don't think I can validate because they have sold the account. Should I just dispute with Experian. I have read such awful stories about Gulf State that I want to proceed carefully. Any help would be much appreciated.

I would send the validation letter to gulf state. History has proven that they can not validate the debts they are trying to collect. When you get the green certified mail receipt back showing they have received it, then dispute it with the cra. I bet it comes off on the 1st try.

I second that motion - you will have to wait the entire 30 days, but they will never verify. I've had 2 such listings (original creditor Citibank) removed.

Seems CAs have found a way around this or at least Reduced the effects from it.

Do they still have to validate if they have sold/transferred the account?
