    Advice please!!

In my Equifax and Experian CRs I have an account charged off from Household for $4216. There is also a listing for an account with Gulf State for $4216 with the original creditor listed as Household. The Equifax listing says the account is open, the Experian listing says the account is in collection - neither has the same account number that Household had.

Do I try to get a verification from Gulf State, dispute directly with CRAs, or some other course of action that I'm unaware of?

First of all, it's validation you get from a ca. Verfication is what the CRAs are "supposed" to do.

Send validation to both CAs and then once you have confirmation that they have received the mail. You can start to dispute with the CRAs.

Make sure the mail has been delivered. I have had a problem with the collection agencies not signing or not receiving the green cards back from them.

You can get one account off from your credit report because it is duplicate.

    Ron,

To remove the duplicate account what action should be taken? Long legal sounding dispute with CRA? or simple online dispute saying "duplicate". Have you had any of these deleted? How?

    Thanks a million!

If I might add my 2¢...

I dispute as "Duplicate" and had success. I avoid using "legalese" in favor of writing the way that I speak, unless of course I'm dealing with a hard-nosed CA, then I pull out all stops and try to baffle 'em with BS!
