Got a letter last week from Gulf State, it was regarding a phone bill. The bill just hit the 6 year mark according to Experian where it was reporting. Gulf State says they were deleting the tradeline. Is this their practice? Do they delete at the 6 year mark? I never diputed this item.

I have three Gulf State entries on my credit report's. They've been there since 1996 and they state the Original Creditor only as "Sprint". I have never, ever been notified by them either by mail or phone of these accounts. Although I've never disputed them, I have never had ANY accounts with Sprint. If I were you, I'd check my report 30 days after the letter date to see if they made good on their word. If they did...Great!!! If not, write them a letter asking them to remove it and be sure to enclose a copy of the initial letter they sent to you. Then dispute with the big 3. I wish they'd delete mine!

    My 2 cents.

Yes, it was deleted... In the letter they stated it would be deleted in their next update cycle... I received my latest Experian last week as well... and it was gone. I wonder why they even bothered to send a letter? Strange... but its gone :)

Sprint is in big trouble for all this crap. I guess that means GS is in trouble also.

I recieved the same letter from several validation requests. I have yet to have the tradeline removed as promised.
