Ive had it, i need to settle a debt for 4k with gulfstate. Can someone please help me with this? Has anyone had any success with them? What about using a company like 'Debt Rescue' to negotiate for me? Thanks, Chris
There only thing I can really tell you is that if it goes on your credit report as settled it will destroy your credit for 7 years. I have found through experiance that a settlement is worse then not paying at all. I have even found some lenders who flag all reports with a settlement and will not give a loan- period. If you settle with them make sure you get something in writing that they will delete from all the CRAs else you are wasting your time.
Dear Chris, Tell us what you've done so far with this case. Fact is GulfState is one of the easiest to deal with. I think half of us on here have had experience with them lol. They did 550 Million Dollars of collections last year. They always break the law and they are horribly incompetent. Starting a rigorous validation process on them will also start a steady stream of violations. You don't need someone else to do this for you, you can do it. I just completed the process with GS and they are deleting my derog because I have them on so many violations. So tell us a little more so we can help.
Well i have sent a letter proving the debt-no response. Next i sent an estoppel-no response, then threatened lawsuit-still no response. And this was 7 monthes ago. I just want this off my report some how. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Do a search for Gulfstate and you should find a complaint or two that has been posted here. Use one of them as a template to draft your own complaint and fax it to their compliance department. Tell them if you do not hear from them within 48 hours, you will be filing the complaint in small claims/state/us district court. Once you start dealing directly with complaince, your situation should improve. Good luck! L
Don't settle!!! Gulf state has been one of the easiest. Did you do all of your letters CRRR? If so, you have them a several violations already. Fax a final notice that is also an intent to sue to Samuel Shannon, compliance manager at 678-417-5075. Also, do a search. Tons of great info on this board.
