I just started paying my bills online.

I am using Win XP, and it comes with a firewall, which I have never really done anything with.

A friend got a virus, even though he had Norton on his system, and later was told that a firewall would have helped him.

I heard that if you are using free anti-virus, that it is better to use the free Zonealarm firewall then the WinXP firewall.
SO my concern is viruses and hackers. Should I go with zonealarm? Does anyone out there have experience of this nature?

No sure. I only use Macs, so I never really worry about viruses :)

I suggest you use Macintosh (iMac), although it's much expensive but it's hassle-free when it comes to computer viruses. You can browse any sites in the net and you have peace of mind. That's how powerful it is!

I know this is an old post. But if you can still read this, there are torrent sites available now whom you can download antiviruses, the only challenge is that some applications on which you are downloading might carry a virus, so after you download it. install the antivirus and scan your pc.
