Hi all! I had a miscarriage in 2008 and had a pathology test to see why I had it. In the past, my husband's insurance has paid for my medical bills except this one. The bill went to collections and now the original creditor and the collection agencies are requesting payment. I wanted to know how to handle this particular debt as it is medical related. I am aware of the HIPPA privacy law as well. Thank you in advace!
I honestly cannot tell whether or not it was sold or assigned by the OC to collections. Is there a way to find out? From looking at the current letter from the CA, it says to make the payment payable to Fresno Credit Bureau who is the CA.
Contact the OC and you should be able to find out. Ask them if your account has been assigned for collections or if they sold it and no longer have any interest in it. You may have to get a supervisor or someone else in charge to answer your question.
