I just went back at TU on the phone asking why they delete an entire tradeline instead of updating it when the creditor doesn't respond. Her immediate answer was "it's the law". When I began pressing her and using her words against her and quoting sections of the FCRA, she asked me if I was a lawyer. I told her I may be.

She then started backtracking - it is TUs policy to delete an entire tradeline if the creditor fails to respond - even in a case such as mine where I am only saying it was never late.

I love making these people squirm.

You should have told her that the law takes priority over policy.

Her argument was that it is open to interpretation. I'm gonna sit on it and see if I get or loase points when the tradeline is deleted. It shows as I1 but is listed as "was 30 days" in the derog section.

If I lose points, I'll call creditor and get them to re-report. I asked her about cloaking and she tried to play dumb until I persisted. I told her it better find its way back to my report if the creditor re-reports it.

That's actually when she asked if I was a lawyer.

What TU will do now is make a notation that you are a lawyer and/or are using a lawyer. Then, when you call in again, the customer service people will say they don't have access to your file and someone from a different department will have to call you back. That's what they did to me when I sent them a "you are in violation of the FCRA" letter. Eventually, they returned my file to the regular c.s. morons.

That's OK. I don't have much do do with it anymore. Just my student loans and BK are sitting out there. The student loans will be rehabbed in 2 months anyway.

I'm feeling a bit saddened as my credit repair journey appears to be entering its twilight. I no longer have any collections (aside from student loans) showing. My BK remains as do some of the accounts associated with it.

When I began my journey in 5/2001, my scores were:

    TU - 493
    EX - 492
    EQ - 491

    They now stand at:

    TU - 646
    EX - 626
EQ - 557 (reporting dupes of student loans)

I may open another front in my "War on Credit" to include my wife's credit. She only has a few to deal with.

Ihis board has been invaluable and I have scored MANY major victories because of it.

My credit repair journey was done in early January. Then gulf state reappeared, but is at the exit door, again. But this time it is permanent. I still visit here everyday to answer questions from newbies, that at one time I was asking. So, I repay all the valuable info and help I received here by passing on the info.

I also will still ask a question now and then. And I find out about new credit card offers, and new BDD's ala Sam and MBNA and George with Citi. So don't go anywhere just because your own personal crusade is done.

I won't be going anywhere. Although my battles are nearing an end, that doesn't mean there isn't a TON of good info to both give and receive on this board.

I agree - I was once new and had no clue so the least I can do is try to help others.
