The Dogman wishes you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. We have all been through a lot - and I am thankful to get to know you all! aarrfffff - dogman _________________ Arf - DOGMAN
Same here. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I've also enjoyed getting to know everyone. If you're traveling, please be safe. The roads, airports and rail stations will all be crowded. Best time to travel is actually Thanksgiving morning.
Happy Turkey Day to you, and all the other members!!!! Stay safe, and behave the day after Thanksgiving, the biggest shopping day of the year.
So I am talking to my wife about skipping town and getting away for thanksgiving........this is today , Monday morning......and the cell rings......it's my folks.....they are on the road in the RV.....and they will see me Wednesday morning and need the power/water/sewer hook ups ready and will be here a month.....anyone want to house sit and act like me for a month or so?
Happy Holidays everyone! However, be careful. Merchants are NOT our friends. With so many sales going on, the holidays can send you spiraling in a world of debt. So, set a predictable holiday spending budget to last you to New Years. Use cash whenever possible to avoid borrowing from the future. CardKid
I've already done most of my shopping and will stay out of the malls on Friday. However, using cash isn't necessarily the best way to go. Just keep track of what you can afford, charge it, and pay it off when the bill comes. You get the use of your money for a few extra weeks. Granted, it's not a lot, but it adds up over time. And it's the discipline that matters.
Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! WHAT HAS CASH EVER DONE FOR YOU??? I PERSONALLY AM ON A CASH FREE DIET ...BUT I do pay in full 100% of all cards above 5.90% and it is paid before the bill comes in the mail!!! On the cards 0.00%-5.90% I pay min + $100.00 or so...
Happy Thanksgiving. This board has been a world of help to me the last few months. My dh started to wonder if I met someone on the board with as much time as I have spent here but our cl went from 45000 to 188000 thanks to all your help. Be safe.
Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! GEORGE has the right idea--use someone else's money as long as you don't pay more than you make. That's what the heavy hitters do.
Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! I've spent a lot less now that I leave my plastic at home. I do, however, keep a check card locked away in the glove box just in case of an emergency. It's inconvenient to go to the ATM before going to the grocery store, but it's been very helpful in curbing the spending. Getting back to carrying cash works for me. When my mortgage is paid in full in 2009 (24 years early), I will also phase out all but one credit card. I don't know which lucky piece of plastic will be the sole survivor when that time comes. Re: Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! I GET MILES (UNITED and DELTA) AND STILL PAY 100% OF THE BILL BEFORE IT COMES IN THE MAIL... or SOMETIMES I WAIT TILL 5 DAYS BEFORE THE PAYMENT DUE DATE... IT IS BETTER THAN PAYING CASH!!! JUST MY OPINION
Re: Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! Cash has given me a lot more choices and piece of mind. CardKid In 2009, I'm changing my handle to just "Kid."
Re: Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! In addition, it keeps my credit cards free in case a great offer comes up that would be in my best interest to take advantage of. ie. MBNA - 15k line @ 0% for 6 months. CardKid
Re: Re: Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! I stopped using cash a long time ago. Why still use cash when credit-cards are accepted just about everywhere (literally) these days?. What you get is one statement with all the activity, write one check and thats it, done deal. Keep cash where it belongs..........IN THE BANK
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Happy Thanksgiving All! I DON'T EVEN WRITE THE ONE CHECK---EFT!!! Most of my cards offer ON-LINE payments...I can even schedule SOME payments DAYS...WEEKS or MONTHS IN ADVANCE...
