Can someone tell me what the difference is and what I should know about either one?

    Taffy,

    Soft inquiries are:

AR - Annual reviews (pulled by one of your creditors to review your CR). Remains for one year.

PRM - Promotional (wonder how you get all those credit card apps in the mail? This is it.) This remains for one year.

DTC/Update/CRA Name - These show when you pull your report or send a dispute to the CRA. Usually remains for two years.

Hard inquiries are usually applications for credit. If there is no designation next to the vendor/creditor's name it is usually a hard inquiry.

EU - is a real estate transaction inquiry (they last two years, not sure if their hard or soft though)

    Hope this helps.

Does anyone know what DTC in front of an inquiry on Equifax means (hard or soft inquiry). I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.

Look at the post right before yours. Dani had it listed.
