I have quite a few inquiries from collection companies. Can I request to have them taken off because I did not give permission?

Are they hard pulls or soft ones?

If they were in conjunction with a collection effort, then they have a permissible purpose. If not, then you can challenge them.

Are there related collections TLs on your report?

You can always write and ask them what their permissible purpose was.

Hard pulls age off the report after two years anyway, and the longer that they have been around the less effect they have on your scores. New pulls are the costly ones.

If they have your account they have purpose to pull. You can always send the pp letter if you desire. For Transunion and Equifax get yourself a daily pull service and pull your report daily. After a period of time the hards will come off and the period of time will be shorter than two years. For Experian=The Spawn of Satan you will have to wait the full two years.
