All, I am relatively new here, have looked over numberous posts and the library. I have a discharged chapt 7 and have gotten all 3 credit reports and have started getting information correct on all three. Most still say charge off etc., but I have told all three they were included in bankruptcy. Now, I am questioning how to tell what is a hard inquiry and what is soft. Also, if a creditor which was named in my chapter 7 continues to report on my report on a monthly basis as account delinquent etc., is that legal and do I need to contact that company or will my investigation requests to the bureaus handle that. Thank you in advance. I have learned so much in such a short period of time from this board. barbara
I hate to tell you this, but in my opinion, you made a big, big mistake by telling the cra's that all those accts were included in bk right off the bat, I would have initially disputed them as not mine, not late etc. in order to get them removed. Now that you admitted they were yours, you are stuck with them for the 7 year reporting period. As far as inquiries go, any inquiry pulled by a creditor that doesn't have a designation with it, like AR or PRM, is a hard inquiry. As for the creditor that is updating monthly as late, I would contact them directly and advise them they need to cease reporting it incorrectly. But, if you already disputed it with the cra, then wait to see the results first.
Thank you for your advice and pointing out a possible mistake. The problem was that I thought if some are reporting as included in bankruptcy, then I should correctly report all as in bankruptcy. I had asked the same question on another forum and no one had reponded to me, so I went ahead and told the 3 bureaus to correct their reports. I should have stayed right here. Thanks.
