Is it ok to have multiple soft inquiries? In a short period of time? And when applying for a subprime secure credit card are those usually considered hard inquiries? BASICALLY i'm asking is it ok to apply for as many secure credit cards as possible since my score is in the 400's and i have no positive tradelines could that affect my CR i need to establish some positive credit
If they are soft then you are the only person that will ever see them. Soft inquiries are only disclosed on reports that you buy or order yourself.
Whenever a company pulls your credit report in response to a credit application it's a hard inquiry. A soft inquiry would be generated when you look at your own credit report, or a company that you have an account with reviews your credit report. Soft inquiries don't count in the FICO score, nor does anyone (but you) see them when your credit report is pulled. I wouldn't worry too much about inquirues with your scores. Do some searches here and try to figure out which card will approve your application with your scores and the info on your credit report now, so you're not just blindly filling out applications. That way you'll still keep the inquiries to a minimum. You're probably going to be working for several months or more to repair your credit, so by the time you are ready to apply for something the inquiries you get on your report now will be old enough not to matter much.
