I have a couple of inactive/never late accounts with MBGA basically dept store accounts. Does any one have any idea what happens if I go use these? They date from before '96 and have been inactive since then. I also have a Circuit City account from '97. Any idea if they will pull new inquiries if I make a small charges to them? These along with the paid/never late mortgage must be what has kept my score out of the trash. I would hate to lose them if a CRA started to get nasty with me. Any and all help appreciated!
Hi. Something that *might* help is calling them to update your address/phone if you have moved since the last time. They might report this new info to the CRA and bring your account current again. Anyway, can't hurt. That is what I am trying with a few oldies like that. Good luck!
I have a MCCBGA Exxon-Mobil card. It was inactive since the account was opened 10/2001. I used a couple of times last month and the account already updated on my cr reports. My Equifax FICO score decreased 10 pts with a $28 balance on this card.
Hi Geo Thanks for the post. These are quite a bit older than that. I called all of customer service lines on these today and they all failed to find any record and stated I would need to apply for an account again. I think I may try a letter yet. It can't hurt. Any other ideas out there? Many thanks!
