Can credit card collectors get away with calling my family members asking them to pay my debt?

Is it the credit-card companies or collection agents? I think the law is different for the two types of collectors.

Nope, if thei're not cosigners on your
account, then they shouldn't be bothered.
According to federal laws, you can ask them
to stop the harrasment... there is more
info available on the net, just search a
    little bit.

Other than your spouse they are not allowed to discuss you account with anyone else.
So tell them they are in violation of FDCPA
laws. And they could be fined for each violation. If they continue keep records
of all calls and file suit on them. I'm sure they will quit immediately.
