I currently have a student blue w/ 8,000 cl, and I want to apply for the blue cash card. Lets just say I can get approved & then can I combine this blue cash w/ my student blue so I can get rid of the student? Not the best apr ever on it, and I like the idea of getting rewards for my purchases.
yeah well it works but its a real pain and they know it and 9 out of 10 times you'll end up with a dead card. have to have it reopened and no bdd. They are retarded on knowing what they can and cannot bdd. Two cards of the same type, yeah. Two optima's yea, business and non -no blue and anything else no This list of course changes daily on the skills of the operators and such. but pretty much you can flip a coin and it will work or not. I'm afraid lack of knowledge is the main problem. And don't be suprised if they apply for a new card for you and hit you with inq's. lol. totally disconnected amex is. But i like em cause i got nearly 100K in lines from them. Werd
A bdd is a "back door double" - which I learned about on this board with citibank. For example, you apply for two cards, or you have one already with a so-so limit. The increases that they give you are low, so you apply for another card (or two at once) and once you get approved for the card, you call and ask to combine them, and get one card w/ a large limit I hope that I am giving you the right definition, but thats what I meant in my original post.
I think the real killer in the original Citibank BDD was that you got two new cards in the same day with one inquiry. Or am I wrong? I tried a Citibank Front Door Double, spaced about 8 months, and it didn't work. The model had a lot of time (obviously) to use the first card as an excuse not to grant the second card.
The one inquire only (from two applications) was very rare. I ever got two Eqx inquires when applied for Citi AA Silver and Gold on the same time.
yeah one inquiry. Equifax. done it many many times. Citibank got mad and marked me a bad customer because i moved all my debt off their cards to other cards. The same amount of debt, all on their card, was dispersed among 0% intro cards. suddenly i can't talk to rentention and they consider me a poor customer (basically what the rep said). very odd those folks. I now carry 0 balance on the $25K limit platinum select and use my BLUE for everything. Citi needs to work harder on their model to compete these days.
