I want to send them a nutcase, and I know some (PsychDoc) have had nutcase success with their student loans, but has anyone ever tried it on Sallie Mae?? I want to nutcase them a couple of weeks before I dispute it during CHOD. Let it sink in a little bit, before they get notified of the dispute! Maybe it'll help, probably not. Sallie mae verifies every time!!
Intent to sue letters have been the only thing that has worked for me vs Sallie Mae. I drew up a very lengthy complaint and sent it along with the filled out court docs. They peed their pants and sent me the UDFs a few days after. (although, on a side note, a few of the things they were going to delete have not been deleted from TU. Guess what I just sent them again this week?....)
will you tell me what the deal was, and exactly how you dealt w/ it? These are the only recent lates on my husbands CR's, and the only thing that shows up on all 3 (of course) Nothing I've done so far has worked, and I'll try anything. We apply for a mortgage in 2 months! TIA
Tracy, Iâ??m in the same boat with wanting to apply in two months. I sent USA GROUP (guarantor) a nutcase about two months ago, and received a letter back from Sallie Mae who I guess owns the loans now (or reporting of the loans-all are paid). My nutcase was specific to two separate loans, and they responded with an accounting of four loans that were transferred to them. 3 of them were removed due to age from all three credit reports almost immediately, although 2 of the 3 were just over 5 years or so old. The last one was only 3 years old and the one I specifically asked to have validated or removed immediately. They response was hardly validation. In fact they sent two letters a day apart, with the first one having wrong information on it, and the second with correct info. The long and short of it is I could have gone down that lengthy road of failure to provide correct validation, but I was concurrently disputing the accounts with the CRAs and have achieved better success with them (2 down, 1 to go) So maybe if you bombard Sallie Mae with nutcase at the same time??? If that doesnâ??t work, chances are they wonâ??t properly validate, and you can catch them on that but it may take more time than you like. Just my experience. Good luck.
Mine were all problems with the status of older closed/transfered SLs (i.e., one from 1997 was reporting as currently 90 days past due when it had been sold years before). I also had a few "ghost" trade-lines, these were listed with no balance, no anything, except for a status of (you guessed it) 90 days past due! Nothing else worked to get them fixed (i.e, disputes to the CRAs, phone calls to SM, letters, etc.). If the only problem he has is a few recent late payments, I'm not sure what you should do, outside of GoodWill type tactics. If it is absolutely necessary for you to remove these, I'd send a notice of dispute to Sallie Mae, telling them you dispute the accuracy of their reporting. Then, wait and see if they mark it in dispute with the CRAs (they never marked anything in dispute for me, but this is required as per the amended FCRA). After they screw-up and don't mark it in dispute, you could try and leverage their violations against them to get the lates removed via an intent to sue. Are these really hurting your chances of getting a mortgage? From what I can see, you seem to have good scores... edited to add: I don't think you'll be able to get Sallie Mae to "validate" the debt, as they are not a CA. Even if they had to validate, they do keep very accurate records, they had every little thing documented from an SL of mine that was taken out in 1996, right down to the original application and everything in between. Keep that in mind...
Yes, we need to get them off his reports. My scores are ok, but his are worse. These are the only recent lates in the last 3 years. I do have a letter stating the account was in forbearance during this time, that the mortgage co. said may work in our favor. I'm going to try everything I can before then though. I'm sending the nutcase this week, as 2 goodwill letters haven't worked yet. I should have plenty of time to send the 2nd nutcase in time to dispute during CHOD. While the account is in dispute during CHOD, I can send out the 3rd nutcase. If this doesn't work, well, I gave it my best shot. By then, we'll have applied for the mortgage already. I can try to slip an intent to sue in there somewhere, I'm sure. I'll send the first nutcase, giving them 30 days. Maybe the next I'll go down to 15 days. We'll see. Thanks for getting back to me though!!
