Please Help! I have had success with all other cards in getting accounts deleted - Amex, Citibank and even Discover - but MBNA refuses to budge. Here is the deal, I entered into a settlement without negotiating the credit terms (stupid I know). Now, MBNA refuses to budge. They are willing to give me the opportunity to simply pay down my balance and have the account stay open as it is current, but no dice on removing the late pays. I had a conversation with a rude MBNA man, who only became polite after I threatened to call the OCC. He refused to give me the street address as he thought I was going to send a conditionally endorsed payment. Whew! Has anyone had any success with getting MBNA to delete late pays or agree to credit terms? If you could provide details- who you spoke with, what tatics you used-I would greatly appreciate it.
Yep, I recently got MBNA to delete my one and only DEROG. I wrote them directly and explained that due to one lost check in the mail that I shouldn't be held accountable for the mail service screwup of making my account 30days late. I paid them as soon as I found out my account was past due. I heard back from them in writing within 3 weeks after my complaint. I guess I was one of the lucky ones since my paying record has been excellent in the past. Thank goodness I checked my credit report when I did. Best of luck to you! You may have to write a few tear-jerking letters and pray the letters hit the desk of a sensitive office personal.
What happened, is that due to the Postal Service Mixup, and where it was the first time that you had been delinquent, MBNA did what they call a Customer Service Reage to remove the 30 day.
If the Delinquency on your MBNA account is legitimate.. Whether it is paid or not MBNA will not delete it.. I have worked in the Charge off unit on task forces, collecting on accounts that are being ready to be charged off.. And when working settlements, ect and if the Customer says that he wants the Delinquency deleted from his credit report, the answer is no... It will not be done.. If the Customer does not want to pay.. My answer is that after the end of the month, your account will no longer with MBNA, and that it will be with the collection agency who bought your debt.. and they can try to collect on it for up to 7 years.. Most of the time, they will pay the settlement..
I applied yesterday for another MBNA student card, with my sorority's name on it. Will they offer me the option to split the credit limit on my current Barnes and Noble cobranded student card? Is it easier to work with 2 cards for credit increases? Any help is appreciated. The sorority card is more of a vanity thing. However, I now have 2 derogs and when I was reconsidered before I had 5. One is a paid chargeoff that I was an AU on (says so right on my report) and the other is a 2 year old, unrated, library fine for $28.
<<What happened, is that due to the Postal Service Mixup, and where it was the first time that you had been delinquent, MBNA did what they call a Customer Service Reage to remove the 30 day.>> I haven't a clue where my check ventured off to after I dropped it into the mailbox in April 2001. I wasn't aware it was missing until I received a letter from MBNA telling me I hadn't paid my last payment. My missing check never came back and it hasn't been cashed, soooo it is floating around somewhere. I didn't realize MBNA report a DEROG on my credit report until I check my report here recently. I still can't believe they reported ONE late payment knowing my history of excellent payments.
In regards to your Questions, I will answer them the Best that I can. First of all, do not worry about the Charge off on the auth user trade, you are not responsible ..Ignore that all together.. In regards to the unpaid Library fine.. That does not matter.. I have approved a student before when there was a Chapter 7 BKO showing on her Credit report from 1998.. She was an auth user on her fathers account.. it did not affect her at all.. In regards to the Sorority Card that you want.. it depends on a couple of things.. 1. How have you handled the Present MBNA account as well as other Credit Card accounts..? 2. What year of school are you in? Rule of thumb? if handled accounts well and no delinquency on either Individual and Joint accounts..1000.00 or revolving debt per year.. Example...Freshman 1000.00 Soph.2000.00, ect.. now if you are a Freshman with 1000.00 of revolving debt..you would be declined.. Soph with 1000.00 Debt.. you may be eligible for 1000.00.. It is starting to change though as now MBNA is giving out 500.00 lines to Freshman, Soph, .. 3 What you may want to do.. is fill out a Application at your school and send it in.. . Also go to MBNA .com and you may be able to find an application there.. Best Of luck.. Ruby
I am a senior. My experian shows me with about $1500 of credit. I pay my MBNA every week. It never goes too close to the limit. I do not get cash advances. I pay it online. Even if I got $500 for this card, that would be great. I applied for it on the phone, as it was a Phi Mu card and couldn't be accessed online. Hope I get approved
Here is what I am dealing with according to experian: 90 days - 3 times 60 days - 4 times 30 days - 5 times Now, here is the interesting part. I pointed out to the rude MBNA rep that there are 90 day delinquencies reporting where there is no 30/60 day in the immediately preceeding months...what gives? He told me not to dispute it as MBNA will simply add a 60 day in the month prior to the 90 day. They haven't provided any evidence whatsoever of the late pays. They told me that I have to provide the cancelled checks showing the account was paid on time. Is it really worth doing this? These are from 1999 and early 2000 and I don't even use the bank the checks were written from any longer. Also, the only report that provides the dates of the late pays is Experian. Has anyone had any luck disputing late pays with TU or Equifax because they do not provide the dates of 90 days are you are required to (623 (a) (5) of the FCRA)?
On Experian Or TRW which are the same..If it is at the Front of your Trade and it says 90 day 3times...and it has a date after it.. It means that you have been 90 days late 3 times on this trade with the last time the date that is listed immediately after it the last time it was 90 days late.. Same thing with the 60 and 30 days.. On TU.. on the right side of the accounts listed.. It will have a summary line and it will show how many times you have been delinquent in each stage..
