Social Security numbers on public documents is already a problem for military retirees. Thousands have them on public records already. They just changed the law requiring it a couple of years ago due the prospect of identity theft. Gib
Hey everyone! I have not requested any info from RW but I have received a copy of my report from Equifax. Matter of fact, I spoke with a customer service rep the day I had it sent; I had to ask her some questions. Nonetheless, that RW letter is kinda creepy! Im not sending them anything b/c just as their site says, they will take this information and pass it on to any credit grantor who may be looking for me (for one reason or another). Thanx everyone! LOL@butch and the sperm sample!! LOL!!!!
Hey Butch! Just read this.... No there is not a fraud alert on my file. This year was the first time that Ive ever requested my credit profile from them. After reading that website, Im convinced that there is someone who is trying to get in touch with me and they're needing this information for one reason or another. What makes RW so salty is that if they're going to disguise themselves as a CRA, then why wouldnt they already have most of the info they're asking of me (like my social, drivers license #, etc)? Yall, isnt what they're doing illegal? If they're telling consumers that they're one thing and really another, isnt that fraudulent?
Let me see if I got this straight... Some unholy alliance of CA's/and CRA's has now made it possible for us to voluntarily sign up to be abused? Is this right??? Sounds like some plot hatched by Dr. Evil. Oh, and Doc, don't forget Dozydoats.
Sheet, mine is posted on the web!! Not even a PACER login required. I wrote all my congressmen, the court, the site admin, and some other people asking them to hide the SSN - no one even replied.
I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to bump it... I applied for a Sprint PCS account, and because of the morons at EX re-issuing my September 2002 credit report earlier this year when I was denied for Sprint PCS the first time, they re-issued the fraud alert that I had put on my files in September because a CA decided as a part of their 'skip-tracing' they would just pull up any _______ (my very common name) in the town that my PO BOX is in, and try to say that that was my information, even after I sent them a validation letter with my correct address. The **** really hit the fan when I called (yes, I know) in September and when they asked what my address was, I answered in riddle "The address you mailed the letter that I received today"; and they rattled of an address of ______ <different middle initial> ________; then tried all sorts of well if you don't live there, then its your father, etc... before going a total categorical denial route... Anyhow, guess who appeared beside EX's name on the CRAs to contact for a free copy of my credit report list, RiskWise... I am so glad that when I call any unknown company, I only do so with the payphone directly accross from the Post Office that my PO BOX is in... Has anyone actually received a copy of their RiskWise file, and what did it have in it? Oh, and according to the Risk-Wise web site, apparently it is now owned by LexisNexis -- http://www.lexis-nexis.com/
Re: Re: Has anyone heard of Risk Wise? "IF" you have a FRAUD ALERT that you don't want...DEMAND IT BE REMOVED
Re: Re: Has anyone heard of Risk Wise? A CONSUMER STATEMENT must be a CONSUMER STATEMENT not a CRA STATEMENT or a CREDITOR STATEMENT!!!
Re: Re: Has anyone heard of Risk Wise? The alert timed out again, apparently. It wasn't mentioned the last time I brought up EX to do my disputes online, this week. The one good thing about the EX having a very short 'fraud alert' period. At least we know that one company actually reads the fraud alerts... one article that I had read said that virtually no one reads the fraud alerts at all...
Re: Re: Has anyone heard of Risk Wise? That's a great idea, Butch. Perhaps it will help balance the bovine stool samples they routinely send us.
