Has anyone heard of SafeRent?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm applying for an apartment, and encountered SafeRent for the first time. It's a company that landlords can use to determine rental approvals based on credit score, instead of checking references, verifying income, etc. You give your landlord your SSN and some ID, and they pass it on to SafeRent, who uses your credit report(s) to determine if you meet sufficient requirements. It is model based, so I am sure there are instant disqualifiers, but I'm wondering if anyone has used it, or has any scoring guidelines, etc.

    Thanks in advance,

    TNGuy

My new place used this and it is based on your Equifax score. The minimum score is 600 fico. It also takes into account your income and some other factors. This is supposed to give the landlord or leasing agent an instant decision. I was approved by the way with a eq fico of 612

I just had my credit pulled by saferent. They pulled Experian. It's my understanding that they have sort of a 'rental' fico. They use your fico and factor in any late rent or evictions.
