Yes they are. I can't seem to find anything on the web about their company other than contact info. I would like to know whether they are really "Debt Buyers" as opposed to "Debt Collectors". Either way, they really seem to be on the up and up. I have yet to find any violations against them, except that they have the company name printed in BIG bold letters on the front of their envelopes. I knew it was a collection agency as soon as I saw the envelope. In my opinion their name clearly states they are a collection agency, but who am I to judge? That would be hard to prove as a violation.

If they are in the business of purchasing bad debt, they are debt collectors whether they bought the debt or it was assigned. The envelope would definitely be a violation.
This company is not on the up and up. See below, they are a regist. Forigen Corp. out of TX, Tracing the Tx corp. shows it is owned an IL. corp. of Stanley Weinberg and Associates. Owned by a husband and wife team of Earl & Lillian Sheilds from 1200 Roosevelet Road Suite 314, Glen Ellyn IL. Here in Florida, they are my neighbors, I work just down the street from them. They are sued ALOT, under FL Statuate 559.72(16). It has to do with their mailings. Most cases judges just award $500 in damages but in one case judge awarded $500 in damages x3, First Performance, GE Capital and a jeweler were defd. Judge also awarded $5,000 in ouniive damages.
