offering a lot of free software like desktop publisher at no charge except Shipping and Handling. If so - Are you a current or past Chase customer? I received this E-Mail today and am frankly surprised to hear from Chase as our business relationship ended a few years ago. It arrived addressed to Mr. Jim. The E-Mail does not look like spam and has a direct link to Chase customer service. Best regards, Jim
This may or may not be along the same lines, but last week I got an email seemingly from American Express, had a direct link to the application on their site, etc. However, the email was from AmericaExpress@HOTMAIL.com! (no 'n' at the end of AmericaN). Now, AmEx isn't gonna use a hotmail address....so I forwarded it to postmaster@hotmail.com and was surprised to get a personalized email back from them indicating that they had closed the account, blah, blah, blah. The email had my name on it and everything. It really looked legit until I noticed at the bottom that little sig file that hotmail accounts have. We have car insurance with AmEx so initially I didn't think it was odd for AmEx to send an email to me with my name on it. Since it took me to the AmEx website, I don't know if there would have been anything shady about filling out the application from that link or not...but I wasn't taking any chances. Ozzy.
I have gotten some email offers from CCC's that I am doing business with. The expanded email headers show that the mail came from experian. Apparently, now they have a marketing arm that does exactly this. My guess is that those who are signed up for CE are the ones being marketed this way, although I am not sure. One of the emails was regarding an AmEx dealie. If I get another one, I will save it and post the headers so you can see what I'm saying.
Thanks Ozzy and Breeze. I checked the E-Mail again after reading your responses and concluded that that it really is from J. P. Morgan Chase. Perhaps, EX sold my name to Chase as I am a C.E. subscriber. But the offer for software represents a very good deal. The kind of deal a company sends to their most valued customers. If Chase remembers me - it will not be as their most valued customer. LOL The E-Mail has been deleted. Best regards, Jim
