There is a collection that has a "consent judgement" against me that I agreed to pay on a monthly basis. The judgment was for a FIRST USA credit card. The collection agency is New Century Financial, Inc. The law firm that they used is Pressler & Pressler, where the reps. are very rude. I recieved a letter from Pressler and Pressler last week saying that New Century Financial has now bought my chargeoffed Citibank acct. and to call their office to make payment arrangements (the generic debt collector letter, no judgment filed) I am a little worried because I agreed to a consent judgment a few months ago with these guys without asking for a validation or a signed copy of the credit card agreement. I was scared at the time and stupidly sent them a letter stating that I made the charges for any ex-boyfriend and would try to pay them off. I've asked on number of occasions for them to send me a receipt on a monthly basis for the FIRST USA judgment and they haven't. Is it legal for a collection agency/law firm to own two of your debts? What should I do with this firm? Thank you for your advise and God Bless.

A CA can own 100 of your debts if they purchase them. I'd ask for validation unless you think they'll go for judgement right away.
