Okay, I just got the results from my latest round. TU: Disputed 6 things. Got 3 deleted (1 charge off, one pd auto loan w/ tons of lates, and one charge off repo) Only have 3 baddies left-one will drop next month. Will have a hellofa time getting 2 of these off. Don't think it will happen till 2006, lol. Not sure what new fico/faco are. Dum-dums changed my last name and address on my report to ex's name and address per a verified oc. Just got through fixing that. Went from 22 derogs to these 3 in 5 months. EQ: Disputed 7 things. Got 6 deleted (1 charge off cc, 4 coll accts, 1 pd auto loan w/ tons of lates) Only have 3 coll accts to go. SOL runs out on 2 of them this year. Last one I will pay...after validation, of course. Can't figure out why my score dropped 13 pts, though. grrrrrrr. Went from 19 derogs to 3 in 5 months. Now, just waiting for that BK to drop in Oct next year. Thanks for all y'alls help and advice!! P.S.: smontoya, have your results come back yet?
With all those deletions (congratulations!) you may have lost some age on your report. Were the deletions for older accounts?
The charge off account that you had dropped, was it a charged off credit card or what type of charge off? If a credit card, how did you go about getting it dropped? Thanks.
jlynn I guess some EQ deletions were pretty old. The collections were from late 90"s. The auto loan was opened in 93 and paid off in 98. Maybe that's why score dropped. Oh well...I've pretty much acceped that scores can fluctuate 25 points either way. Will be HAPPY to hit 725...seem like a long way away still. clk, As far as deletion the charge-offs... 1 was an unpaid credit card charge off (deleted from both reports) charged off in 2000. All I did was dispute it as not mine with EQ and didn't give a reason for TU. The CRA said OC told them to delete. Not sure why. It was a lil over $600. Have been lucky with charge off cc's, I guess. It is amazing at how many people purge their records before sol runs out. Stuff as "late" as 2000 came off without having to send validation request. Thanks everyone.
Good results! Getting derogs off is the ultimate goal- your score should even out soon enough... As for my results (thanks for asking!), nothing yet. I sent EQ a dispute letter about 8 days ago, they signed for it 4 days ago. Still nothing showing as being investigated. It's probably getting bounced between EQ and CSC right now. The old address they had on file for me WAS in CSC's area but my CURRENT address in serviced by EQ. Sent them copies of a utility bill, D.L and SS card- I want OUT of CSC hell! TU is a freaking nightmare. Back in November when I started working on that report- I became too impatient and started sending in disputes before the last one had ended. I have had a snowballing investigation since then- ongoing since November! The stupid reps kept telling me they HAD sent my investigation results but finally I got one on the phone to tell me the truth- they just kept extending the due date! So, I didn't dispute anything in Feb so hopefully some time this month I'll know something! Some stuff has been deleted, though. Score still sucks. I'm going to start a new thread about a new CA showing up on TU, though. Jerks... Hubby's TU results due tomorrow- we shall see! EXP deleted 2 negs out of 7 for him- score went up to 619.
Congrats on hubby's exp deles. EXP wont budge on stuff the other 2 have deleted. Buttheads. Hubby has 1 coll on eq (coming off this month) and 2 coll on tu (coming off this month. Screw EXP...no one uses them anyways, lol. Looks like the info on there is stuck like $hit to fur (sorry!) I did same w/eq. They kept rolling my disputes over to new dates...even though I wasn;t disputing same thing. TU hasn't been so bad. I think I filed 2 BIG disputes for the 22 things and just 1 or 2 stargglers for stuff I got cancellation letters for...DONT GIVE UP!!!! Any deletion if a battle won...
Isn't it funny? Hubby started out in mid 400's with all 3 and now he's solidly in the 600's with 2/3. I, on the other hand- take two steps backwards for every step forwards. I'm beginning to believe I'm just going to have to "piggyback" on hubby's credit. One good thing- my student loans should get updated to a positive status this year once I finish their rehab programs- that is what is NAILING my scores- they sure do love to report one loan 3 different ways- all negative of course. I can't give up- I'm obsessed at this point! What else would I do with my time? We have come a long way in a short time, though. I just have to realize my reports were the most screwed up so I'm not going to have such an easy time of it. My credit started off bad and continued that way until recently. Hubby, on the other hand, had a good 10 years of positive history until he met me. Really bad stuff between 97-99 but pretty much OK since he filed BK in 99. That's why his is so much easier- his negs are sandwiched between positives! We love to joke "I ruined your credit- but I'm now I'm reviving it for you!" Feels good to be able to fix it for him.
Hey Nik! Congratulations on the progress!! By any chance, did you have luck with First Premier or Cap One? Those are my husband's last two (unpaid c/o) with DOLA from 01. I didn't think it would be worth the time to dispute with CRA because 1. they are recent and 2. both of these cc's reputations. But now I'm thinking maybe I should. Since you mentioned having a First Premier in another thread, I was curious if any you had any success with them since we last spoke. peace, delilah
Thanks, Del, First premier sux. I wrote them a goodwill letter explaining that it wasn't my fault and that their rep said nothing would be reported. They pretty much told me tough $hit. So, they are the only account I have with a neg status...1 30 day and 1 60 day late. There have been current now for over 2 years, so only 5 more to go, lol. The cap1's were, incredilby enough, deleted for now from hubby's reports. Only exp refuses to delete. I know that cap1 could re-insert at any time, so I'm not sure what I'll do then. Patiently waiting for sol to run out...then I will go for jugular if need be. Have you had any luck?
Smontoya, Yeah, I know what you mean...I was the one who was further down the sewer pipe, lol. It is fun being able to fix stuff. Now, I too am totally obsessed. Bet hubby wished I'd talk about other stuff at the dinner table. It feels really good to be able to do something about what it is that we should all have more control over. Theres 2 standpoints..."those damns CA's" and "What can I do...what laws out there fit my situation". You kind of have to have the right mindset to start doing something about our reports. I have had crappy credit since 1993. All was perfect, then BAM...I was afraid to even look at my credit report until late last year. I guess it's all paart of facing the music. Hardest part is the waiting. I know it is a good thing when they don;t respond within 30 days, but, I have lost my patience. Now, on day 31, I call to "check on the status of my invest". Usually, I get a heads up on what they did. Hard to keep track of all the ins and outs...letters, due dates, date of receipts, lol...but I have a trusty ledger and spreadsheet system that helps. You go, girl! Keep up the good worrk...and don't max out those new cards you just got!!
I've got a busy week ahead of me. 30 days runs out on tommorrow on several disputes on my husband's and my reports. So I expect a flurry of replies this week! Love going to the mailbox now!!! I still haven't heard back from my credit union on a goodwill letter I sent on Jan 9 ... guess I'll just include them in my next round of "never late" and see how that shakes out. And hubby still has those dang FP and C1 unpaid c/o. I even sent a letter to the much-touted Mr. Cooke at Cap1, signed for on 1-17, so maybe he'll be getting back to us with something mutually satisfactory. bit by bit its all coming together. (sorry to hijack with my status ... I really just wanted to congratulate you!!!!) peace, delilah
Weird to love checking the mailbox, huh? Well, good luck on your disputes. crap1 and fp stink as far as chaning their info. Now, I am trying to decide whether or not to dispute a 94 bk. I may be able to on my tu...name is totally different and all addresses are different. EQ still shows name, but no addresses. Afraid they will update my report with old address info for both reports. Damn, I hate this.
Thanks firstclass...couldn't have done it without yours and everyone else's footsteps in which to follow.
Hey! Those are some awesome results!! We don't seem to be having the same good luck, but shall wait and see. More good results to you!!
Weird- TU actually finished an investigation EARLY! Just got home from work and what's sitting in the mailbox? Hubby's investigation results... Of the 8 items I disputed: 3 deletions 1 "previously verified" 4 verified 1 of the deletions was Capital One so I'm happy
Congrats!!! Crap 1 is a big thing to be proud of!! We were so stoked when it came off of hubby's tu and eq. exp won't bugde...buttheads. Thinking of sending procedural request. Hey, have you used validation letters as part of your strategy yet? I have 1 collection account (well, 3 on eq, but sol is almost out on 2) that I wasnt to take care of. Debating on whether to send them validation first, then negotiate, or just call them and pay it in exchange for deletion. What do you think? I have already disputed it on cr's and it came back verified. Also...The 2 that are almost out on sol... 1 is out in July and the other is out on Jan 04 (amts are very small (160 and 300). Now, since sol is almost out, I can just sit on them OR I could call and tell them that SOL is almost out...either they take 50 bnux and delete or get nothing at all and it still comes off report. Then again, I thought they might change reporting info somehow (like acct number or something) and report it for another 7 if I piss them off. If you think about it, it makes more sense to take the 50 bux than to get nothing and end up having to delete, right? Just some thoughts as I drove to work this morning.
I sent out first round validation requests in January- didn't get an actual validation from any of them. Waiting till payday this Friday and then sending out round 2. IC Systems, in all their stupidity, sent me a demand for payment because they felt they had validated. What did they send? A copy of a letter from the OC stating they couldn't provide anything until they had my signature! Seems like validation or settlement is the only options that'll work for me at this point. I've disputed my CA entries SOOOO many times and they always "remain". Slowly dragging ourselves up- I looked a copy of hubby's TU report from August- 24 negatives! He's down to 12 right now so we've had a 50% removal rate
Re: Re: Have some dispute results: EQ & TU I'd try the validation first- if they can't validate it why pay it? Only after they send proof would I then try to settle. You'd think that they would be happy to take a settlement- something is better than nothing! Or- you could just hold off another 10 months for them all to be gone Let's say you send validation requests- it'll probably take at least 2 months to get a response from them. By the time you actually get validation, you might be looking at 7-8 months left before it deletes. At this point you can either wait them out or try to offer settlement if you really need it off of you reports.
