Anyone following this story might be interested in a call I placed to the Lake Stevens Sewer District here in Washington State. Since the defense of HDSD is that it is illegal in Washington to write off accounts like mine I thought I would consult another SD in my state. And their response........."We would write it off. There is NO law. Ask HDSD to give you exact code, not just "Title 57." So I now have new ammo. Still waiting to hear though. We'll see. At least I know they can write it off. I have heard from several sources that HDSD is not the most reputable outfit. I do believe I should run for president at the next election. First order of business: Remove all existing liens on real property in the district. lol Kim
Ok, so tell me I have the documents showing when the subdivision was developed they installed sewer lines for all the houses. All of my neighbors are connected to the sewer so is it really possible I am not?? How could one house not be connected? They were all built at the same time by the same developer. As for the official update on this I got a call from my friend, Fred. He said he just really helped me out and is such a great guy. @@@@@@@@@@@@(rolling eyes) He says they are waiving all the interest and late charges and are not going to report to credit. They are only billing me for the time when Countrywide repo'd the house and the rest will just be on a lien. Wow, what a deal for me. I said, "Then I still have to pay." He said, "No." I said how can I sell a house with a lien. "Oh, it would be paid at closing." I said, "Yeah, so I still have to pay." "Oh, I guess if you ever sell the house, yes." He thought I was an idiot. Newspaper has been called. They are investigating. Already left message for attorney specializing in purchase and sale of real estate. Fred can kiss my butt, he is so nice, NOT. Kim
You can NOT pay for BACK DEBT of the property!!! You bought the house on XX/XX/XX...they can charge you from that date!!! You can NOT accept any LIEN that is for the property BEFORE you bought it!!!
Finally, I have been very busy and haven't had a chance to update you guys. I have been reading every RCW in Washington to find a way out of this bill and found one on closing agents and they were not completely honest at the title company before. They are legally obligated to contact every utility company before closing and even though HDSD didn't show up on a title search it is obvious by looking at GIS maps we are in the district. I called my officer and asked her why they didn't call *every* utility and she asked for the bill and said it will be paid by First American Title. YES, I knew that someone had to be responsible in the chain somewhere. Thanks for all the advice and support. This is a very unfair law but at least we are protected by insurance. Kim
