HBSC and Paid Collection Disputes?

I had two HSBC credit card accounts which were charged off more than two years ago. I settled both of these in 2007 through two different collection agencies.

Recently, I disputed both these accounts and received a letter from HSBC stating that "this account has been sold" and contact informatio for the two collection agencies.

What's the next step in the dispute process here? If I send a verfication request to the collection agencies and they don't respond, will the HSBC orignal entry be deleted?

As a side note, does anyone have any experience with Collect America? How likely are they to have records past the 2 year mark?

    Thanks for any advice.

Who did you dispute the accounts with and what kind of settlement did you negotiate with the CAs back in 2007? Even if you settled with the the CAs and they agreed to remove the negative marks from your credit report, I don't believe the OC has any obligation to the remove the derogatory items. Now, if you disputed the debt through the CRAs and HSBC is unable to provide verification, then that's a different story.
