I applied for a smart providian card last week. I currently have a platinum card with them now (never late, never OTL, opened a year now). I have a 637 EX score. I get a letter in the mail that says: We regret to inform you that we are unable to open an account for you at this time based on other account relationships with providian at your address. We would like to emphasize that this does not mean that you do not have good credit or that another lender would not open a credit account for you. For your privacy, our decision will not be reported to the credit agencies and will remain confidential. WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN??!! The only other person at my address is hubby and he has 3 cards with them. gold visa-open 3 years gold MC-open over 1 year getsmart-open 1 1/2 years He has never been late or OTL I tried calling the number on the letter but it says they are currently closed??
They must be cross-referencing addresses now, and if that address comes up with a current account holder, they hold that against you, whether its you or not. Go figure...
Finally got a hold of someone-it means I have the max number of cards allowed per household! They only allow 2 cards per household Is this something new?
