    Hi, I would first like to state that i'm very happy to have found this board, and I value each and everyone's post here. I'm on the path to fix my credit as i'm looking to purchase my first home in the next 2 years. My current score is 552 and my goal is to get 650 in the next year. I tend to think more optimistically!

    In looking through my report, I already find some errors (a charge off, when I had already paid the balance in full with a garnish)

    My first path was to sign up for Lexington, in which I just did last week and i'm somewhat sorry I did after reading the many posts about them.

    I hope you don't mind, but I will probably be asking tons and tons of questions (keeping the search function in mind)

    Thanks!

    Your goal is reachable.

    I made my first visit here on October 1st, 2003, with a score 631.

    As of today I am at 688. I am trying to get to 720 by next October so I can buy a car at 0%.

    I was a 618 when bought my home and got a 5.5% VA.

    Hi Greg,

    Thanks for the encouragement!

    May I ask what your first steps were? I feel so overwhemed at the moment.

    How does this look:

    Collection accounts:

    CBA Collection â?? SBC pacific - $150

    Bay Area Credit â?? SBC California - $150

    Bureau of Commercial â?? Los gatos PD - $131

    Bureau of Comercial â?? Pacific Bell - $109

    California Business BU â?? Kaiser - $255

    Calif Edison â?? Edison - $16

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If for example, I wanted to pay each one, what is the chance of getting it dropped from the report?
    If you want to pay then send a settlement letter w/deletion.
    Do not send payment with a note that says 'if you cash this check blah, blah, blah'.
    Send a letter first, there is a sample on this forum. When it comes back signed, then send payment, and use a money order or cashiers check, these are the last people you want to have your banking information.
    If after 30 days or so, it is not deleted off all 3 or your CR's, then you have a signed letter from them agreeing to delete with payment.
    This is a pretty effective way of getting deletions. I paid a few collections off before I found this forum, and I am still fighting to get them removed.
    I would offer any original creditors payment in full.
    The stuff that is with a CA offer a little over 50%.
    Send everything CRRR.
    420Greg,
    Where can we find the settlement letter with deletion?
    Thanks
    Thank you Greg! I guess I could reall challange it first, but I think it would be easier to get deleted if I offered settlement.
    Not so good if you don't get payment for deletion in writing.
