It has been a while since I was lasted on here and while the last time everyone was a great deal of help, another ugly CA has raised its ugly head. So the other day I get a call from a CA about some debt. I tell her I have no idea what she's talking about, never received anything in the mail and there was nothing on my credit report. Well for one, she said she was going to report it and than sent me something in the mail. So here are my questions: I though "law offices" weren't allowed to collect debts? But in the letter it states to make payment to some other company. If the date of last payment was May 2000 is it out of the SOL? I dont have a date of delinquency. I know the state I live in, it is out of the SOL but the state it supposably was incurred in, it's not, that is, if the date of deliquency is 6 months after the May date. Which would make it next month, so which state do I go by? I intend on writing them a letter but not sure how I should state it being I have the OC and the Acct No and an amount owed and thats it. Do I just use the debt validation #1? Here is what the last paragraph says which isn't the only thing I'd be requesting: Unless you notify this office within 30 days after receiving this notice that you dispute the validity of this debt or any portion thereof, this office will assume this debt is valid. If you notify this office in writing withing 30 days of receiving this notice, the office will obtain verification of the debt or obtain a copy of a judgment and mail you a copy of such a judgment or verification. If you request this office in writing within 30 days after receiving this notice, this office will provide you with the name and address of original creditor, if different from the current creditor. Sorry if I seem dumb but I just need to be headed in the right direction.
