Angie, I understand where you are coming from, and I for one can't disagree with your stance in any way.

But this person is now in a heap of hot water and needs as much help as she can get.

She now understands what a mess she has gotten herself into and I am quite sure that by the time she gets out of this one, she isn't likely to make the same mistakes over again.

And yes, it's perfectly understandable why she might not have been able to dig up the $15 every month. And what good would the $15 have done her? It would have made the minimum payment for one month and then they add more interest on to it and in a couple of months, it's $20 and then $30 and it just keeps on escalating. Pretty soon one gets sick and tired of paying and paying only to see the situation get worse and worse each month.

What far too many people don't realize is that credit cards are not for making larger purchases than they have the cash to pay for in full each and every month.

Let me explain a bit more. One time, many years ago, I set out to "rob" as many creditors as I possibly could. I thought it was funny, and most people would not even believe how badly I ripped them off, but it was well over a million bucks. At the time, there was nothing in the law against doing that. So I got away with it. But of course, I had to put up with all the harangues that the creditors could lay on me, and at the time, there was almost no protection whatever for the debtor. He had to tread water the best way he could. And I became expert at that. I learned every trick in the books and I did a good job of it too. And then I simply got tired of playing the games and took off leaving absolutely no trace for them to follow up on.

Matter of fact, that's how I ended up here in Oklahoma City.

Needless to say, it wasn't long after that but what they passed so many laws against what I did back then that only a damned fool would do what I did back then because today they would end up so far back in the jailhouse they would have to feed them their beans with a shotgun.

Then I got myself a new start and because I didn't know how to do it the right way for a change, I goofed up again. Then I had to learn to fight under the new laws. But that time, I didn't do it because I was trying to rip anybody off, just out of sheer ignorance. So I had to learn how to handle credit properly. I did that too, but I'm still fighting a couple of entries. All the rest are history because I learned how to get them off no matter what.

This person didn't do anything like I did, so if you want somebody to moralize at, I'm your target.

But let's hope this person has learned her lesson. I think she has.

That was pretty mean. She was looking for advice for a PAST mistake, not criticism. Play nice, please.

Thanks nursie. In a way, he is right. Though I don't need to be criticized for the obvious. I was a stupid kid and all that is in the PAST. I'm only worried about my FUTURE now. Thanks again. :)

Well, part of the reason I posted a small part of my past experiences with bad credit was to show you and others that no matter how bad you might have been, if you seek forgivness and work hard to prove that you are going to mend your ways in the future, you can rebuild and enjoy a better life.

I do think it's a bit on the "too bad" side that if one looks at it in a way that is maybe slightly slanted, one might say then that credit is kind of like religion.

"Repent and ye shall be saved"

Just too bad that all those moneybags types seem to think they are the Gods, your salvadores, to coin a spanish word.

All you have to do is play the game their way. But if you don't kneel down to them with bowed head and hand across your heart, look out because they got a bolt of lightning that will smite you for sure.

All I got to say to those would be "godlike" types is the following:

Sis on you Pister, you ain't so muckin fuch.
