    Hi All,

I have worked painstakingly to build up my credit score over the years..

I advertise extensively through Google Adwords and somehow, I forgot about one of my accounts with Google which had an outstanding balance of $440 on it.

I received a collections notice from an external agency saying that the account was placed in collection.

At this point, should I be trying to deal with Google or with the collections agency?

I just checked my credit reports, but I don't see a chargeoff on my record (although it could show up later).

Is there a way to prevent it from showing up on my record if I pay it off in full? (although I am not sure if I should pay to the creditor or to the collections agency).

would be grateful for any advice..

    M

also, it looks like this debt was assigned to the CA and not sold, since I still see a balance in my OC account

If it was assigned, you might try convincing the OC to pull your account back from collections so you can pay them directly. I'm surprised that a collection hasn't showed up on your credit reports yet. Do you know how long ago the debt was transferred to the CA?
