Hi! I disputed a paid collection account with Trans Union online. I have not received anything from them, but I just checked my credit report from Privacy Guard and the Remarks section of the account says "Settled; less than full balance" The payment status says: "Payment after charge off/collection". First of all, I paid this account in FULL. Now I feel bad because before it was saying that I was only 30 days past due but now it says SETTLED LESS THAN FULL BALANCE. I hate it. Like I said, I have not heard received any letter from Trans Union yet, but since my today's report is different from my last week's, I'm assuming they verified. What do I do next? Send the OC a validation letter? Thanks!
Did I make a mistake disputing with TU because it was only a 30 day late now it became a settled;less than full balance? It's reported as collection account with Experian though. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
when you disputed what was the information that was incorrect and what reason did you give for the dispute?
I believe I paid the collection agency, but the original creditor is reporting it. Does that make a difference? Please help. I am trying to apply for a mortgage.
Facts: TL was a collection account that I paid in full. I never received their bills because they sent them to the wrong address in FL while I was living in GA. They said they never received the statements back so there's nothing that tells them I did not receive the bills. Like what I wrote above, I paid in FULL. But when I disputed as not mine, it came back SETTLED LESS THAN FULL BALANCE. The OC has my current address and SSN. What should I do? Should I: 1) Send the CRA a Procedure Request? 2) Send the OC a validation letter? 3) Other?
kathycmh, it was saying 30 days late even though it was really a collection account. I disputed as Not Mine. lbrown, the OC is reporting it even though I paid the collection agency. I don't see any info about the CA on the report at all.
