I had disputed a paid CA from 04/01. Well up untill now it was showing up as "comsumer disputes: investigation in progress".

However when I pulled the report today it didnt say that, and the Balance date was shown 02/2003 (EVEN THOUGH THE BALANCE IS $0 for almost 2 years now). My fico dropped like a rock, because it looked like the CA just happened.

WHAT TO DO? can they do this?

The 30 days for investigation are NOT up yet. They have untill 03/15.

    Thanks,

I don't know the answer but someone should. Try doing a search for re-aging

Have you tried a validation request with the CA directly? If not, do so right away.

I'm in a similar situation with an OC with EQ and I am also pondering on what to do.
I had an old charge off (5yr) and through dispute
I got them to mark it "closed by consumer" but now they gave it an R5 that shows up like last month's :(
Fico dropped more than 30 points!
I am thinking that this an "effective" re-aging of the
debt and am going to dispute it again and also ask them about the procedures used. I'm going
to write them the most litigious letter I can think of.
