    Hello,
I have been reading this web site and found some great info. I have been trying off and on to get items removed from my credit reports for the last few years. I have got some small thingsa removed like late pays and inquiries but nothing major. My scores are all around 600 and I want to buy a house soon. So after reading here it seems that I have been going about this somehwhat the wrong way. I would appreciate any advice you can offer me. Here is my situation. The two main items that are killing my credit scores are charge offs, one from discover($1500) and one from citibank($1250). These items are listed on my credit reports and they have each been sent to a collection agency, so there is a listing for the original creditor and a listing for the collection agency. I have a few other items but lets look at these first.

I saw this suggestion from lizardking:
    a)request validation
    b)send estoppel
c)tell cra to remove with proof of validation letters
    d)sue in small claims

Now do you think I will have much luck seeing that the balances on these are over $1000, which seems high? Also, should I send the validation letters to the oc or the ca, or both? Can I get away with only one validation letter and then estoppel and then demand that cra remove the record? If I go through this process with the ca will that documentation also serve to remove the oc record from my credit file as well? Also, if they write back asking me to send them documentation is there a sample letter for me to send explainig that it is their responsibility?

I also have a few other things to clean up. I have 2 other collections, both medical, that are paid in full by me. Can you suggest a method to get them removed from my credit file?

I appreciate any suggestions people can offer. This website has proved very informative and eye opening for the small amount of time I have known
    about it.

    Thanks,
    Bac0ny0

First of all, how old are the chargeoffs and what is the SOL (Statute of Limitations) in your state? You may want to be careful about "waking" these up.

In the grand scheme of things for the CA, $1000 isn't really a lot of money. But you don't want to pay that, and if you do make a settlement you want it to be for deletion.

But first let's see how old these are and where they stand in relation to the SOL.

Thanks for replying. The SOL in PA is 4 years, both of the collections is more than 4 years old, both are just about 5 years. So I assume that I don't have to worry about them trying to sue me. What would you suggest given that info. Thanks for your help.

First, dispute them with the three CRAs as "not mine." See what you get back.

If they can't verify them, they have to delete. Perhaps since it's out of SOL they won't bother about it and won't reply, then it will be deleted.

Your balances are not high. I got a 12k deleted by Citibank by using a ITS letter.
