I have about 15000 in cc debt and I need help to get rid of it. I am applying for a loan because I don;t want to do bankruptcy. I am scared that my credit history is bad i haven't checked into it because i think to many hits on the report hurts me. i also don't know how to go about doing it. ON line or Mail. Who do I contact. If I do have a bad history how do i clean it up. I need to work now before I go nuts. I am so scared but want to wrok hard to get rid of it. The things that would be on the credit report is late payments on the credit cards but a good record for all of my other bills (etc. Mortgage, car paymts)

The very first thing you need to do is calm down - we have all been in your shoes and have found our way out.

If I was you, I would get copies of all three reports and see whats really going on, then everyone here can help you from there.

    Welcome!!!!

First step is to sit back for awhile, read and learn. Get to know your enemy and learn about them. I'm sure there are many others who have dealt with them as well.

Use the search function before you ask questions, because they most likely have been asked before.

    Have fun and GOOD LUCK!!!!

Dont file bankruptcy!!! Dont get a new loan!!! Just wait as sal said "we have all been in your shoes" many of us now have good credit thanks to a little work and a whole lot of reading on this and other boards. Im still new here my self and was considering filing bk about 6weeks ago but now i realize that would have been a huge mistake. it sounds like you probably have decent credit Take your time and read over this forum especially the hall of fame posting at the top of this forum. every question you probably have has been answered 10 times on this board and if you cant find the answer then post a question. use the search function as much as you can though. i wouldnt recommend taking out a loan to pay off your debt its only going to put you farther in. what was on your credit report? any collection agencies or charge off's? be specific with amout owed and time since last payment was made and also the the status of the account ie., charge off, late, current, etc. also what state do you live in so we can see which state laws may apply to your situation.
to check your report most people here use privacyguard.com it only cost $1 for the first 2 months then if you dont cancel they will charge you $119 for the rest of the year. also it wont hurt your credit for you to view it.

first step in this whole process is to really relax, dont make any moves until you know all your rights under the law and you know all your options.

check out www.creditboards.com and also www.creditinfocenter.com they are 2 other boards like this one.
