Hi. Upon reading my credit report today, I found out that Verizon put a $ 145 as a collection amount (all three CRA.) As I've already paid the said amount to "National Financial Groups" earlier in Jaunary, I would like to get it removed from the credit reports. Which steps do I have to follow to get it removed, if at all possible? Thank you so much for your kind attention.
It's a valid and accurate tradeline, they are under no obligation to remove it. If it shows paid then it will remain for the better part of 7 years.
Again, it's a valid accurate tradeline. You didnt pay the final bill an they sent you to collections where it was paid. It will remain as either paid collection, or paid in full. It has a moderate affect on your credit score, depending how much open/active credit you have to help offset this 1 collection account if thats all that appear, even if you have great credit with long history your score took a hit with this account.
Thats what you get for paying a ca.It won't help your credit and it will remain for 7 years as a paid collection account compared to a unpaid collection account that also stays on your cr for 7 years.
maybe I'm an optimist... I had some paid charge offs on my report, disputed them and they came off. They were completely valid and they still came off. I think it's worth the try.
It's also a good idea to look at your state laws. I don't know about any other state but in article 25 of the General Business Law of New York State, a paid collection cannot be reported after 5 years. That two year difference gives the consumer a little incentive to pay a charge off.
besides morals of paying a just debt? horrible that they are reporting something negative when the debtor is the one who faulted for whatever reason in the first place. get over it.
Thanks for all the answers. Last January I had a fico score of 748, but today I have 619. What a disaster.
I'm new here too. I have the same situation. with many collection, late payment and chargeoff. with paid. very old account over 3 years I'm dispute all of them let see what happen,
Get over what? I really have no idea what you mean. I posted that some states will limit the length of time that a paid collection can be reported. It was incentive to actually pay a debt. What do you mean, get over it? Why do you insist on getting into a pissing match? Are you that insecure?
