Hi, I need some help figuring out how to get 2-3 collections deleted from my credit reports. I have been a member of this board for a while and at some point read a whole bunch of stuff on it but I don't have the time and dedication to do it on my own. I need someone to hold my hand and explain me what I need to do and I am willing to pay for it. I thought it would be better to ask for advice here than to call one of the credit repair companies. So here is the situation: I had a studio for a couple of months 2 years ago, I moved out and I forgot about the cable and the electricity bill and they didn't have a forward address for me so they both ended up in collection. I am willing to pay a good percentage of what they think I owe them in order to have the collections deleted. I also have a emergency room hospital bill in the same situation. Alternatively if you know a good credit repair company please let me know
Re: Help me delete collections for A good credit repair company has everything in common with Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny...get it? In the time it took you to write this note you could have started your own credit repair journey on line. Pull your credit reports from each bureau electronically (about $12 per bureau) and delete your old addresses. When those are gone from your reports (2-3 weeks), dispute the tradelines in question online (notice that this far you've only sat at your computer keyboard). If they come back verified, read up on the validation process and take 1/2 hour to fire off a couple of form letters. The only hard part is taking them to the post office to send them CRRR. If validation fails, you may just want to contact the creditors and offer payment in exchange for deletion. This will be particularly useful if the debts in question are past the statute of limitations meaning the creditors are no longer entitled to payment (although many will continue to try to collect) . In the time it would take you to explain to someone else what you want to do, you could just do it yourself for considerably less than you're offering to pay. Good luck. Poochie
