Ok, after I send in the validation letter, I have to check to see if the CA marked the TL in dispute, right?
When it shows in dispute, well..I'm a little confused by this. I've already disputed them w/ the CRA's, so experian keeps the "item disputed by consumer" on there the whole time. If I dispute again, how can I tell the difference between showing as in dispute from me, or in dispute because the CA put it in dispute? Does that make any sense?
How long should I wait before I check? I'm also supposed to dispute again, to see if the CA verifies. If I wait to check to see if they place it in dispute, but I dispute it first, how will the CRA distinguish the two types of disputes on my CR's? I don't think I'm making any sense, so maybe I should just try tomorrow when my brain is functioning. This is the only part of the validation process that I'm confused on, and I think I'm confusing myself more. If you understand what I'm talking about, any clarification would be appreciated!! TIA!

Ok, I've had my coffee, maybe I can explain this more clearly..

This is the point where I get confused. Validation letter sent, green card back.

I'm supposed to check the CR's to see if CA noted acct. as in dispute. How does the CR distinguish between an "in dispute" placed by the CA, and the "item disputed by consumer" that is already on my reports?? I have diputed these TL's, so I'm wondering how I can prove that they didn't place them in dispute during the validation process.

I hope I made that clearer than I did last night! LOL My eyes were closing as I was typing, so I was confusing myself too!!

Just a little <bump> for me. I guess I'll just wait and see what the reports show, after they've had the validation letter for a week or so!!

I may be wrong here because I never actually got any creditor or CA to properly notate my listing when I validated...but from what I have read via others on this board:

When you dispute with the CRA, they will put a notation on your report that "item is in dispute" which denotes the entire listing is being verified.

When the CA or OC notates the account, "consumer disputes this account" (or something like that) appears WITHIN the listing.

Of course I may be wrong, so if anyone has first hand knowledge of this please correct me.

thank you for your reply. I have 1 out of 2 of the green cards back. When I get them both back, I'll dispute them w/ the CRA's, and keep checking if the CA put them in dispute. Hopefully, I'll be able to tell the difference between my dispute and theirs!! I'm just hoping to catch them, so I can gain some leverage to pay for deletion!!

    Thanks for your help!

I'm curious to know how long does the "consumer disputes account-says not his/hers" stay in your credit report? I recently pulled my Equifax report and I see that my Discover card says that but funny thing is, this my first time looking at my credit report let alone disputing it. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise and it'll come off. If that's how it works.

Actually Nave I think its the other way around. When you dispute with the cra's they mark the account "Item Disputed by the Consumer" When the CA or OC marks the account they usually say "Account in Dispute under the Fair Credit Billing Act".

Thank you Robin. That's what I was looking for. I was looking for the wording that the CRA's use when the CA puts something in dispute. I knew there had to be a way to differentiate (sp?) between my dispute and theirs!!

thank you thank you thank you!!

Thought it was one way or t'other. As I get older, I am just glad when I remember CLOSE to the language used :))
