I have a student loan through a private college that I am in collections with. I started a payment plan with them and then found this website. I sent them a validation letter and never heard anything else from them. I stopped making payments when they did not respond. Even though they did not send me validation information, they shortly thereafter placed a hard inquiry on my credit report and today (5 months later) I received a collection letter, but not validation. I have the return receipt where they signed for my validation request, what should I do now? Thanks.
It is with a collection agency and it is about 3000. Did they violate my rights by continuing collection activities by doing the hard pull and then sending a collection notice without validation? This is not on my credit yet.
