OK ... I pulled my report (a one time report a few months ago) to get a picture of whats going on. Today I ordered the Equifax credit watch and noticed two new collection accounts... from from a local General hospital for $1791 and the other from a local medical center of $48 these cost should of been paid for by my Health insurance: I never got any notices from the hospital or the clinic and now they are both in collection.. in my credit report!!!! GRrRrrR I am SO HOPPING MAD!!!! I am going to call my insurance company tomorrow morning to figure out what happened.. but how in the hell am I going to get something this new off my credit report... Everything else bad I have is between 4-6 years old..
Contact the OC's and find out why tricare didn't pay it. If they weren't billed, then I'd raise holy hell with the providers. If Tricare did pay a portion of the bills, find out what it will take for the OC's to delete. Gib
Tricare is the absolute worst insurance in the world, I think! My children have it because their father is retired military and its almost as bad, in my opinion, as having no insurance at all. Grrrrrr right there with ya. L
I kind of doubt that it's Tricare, it probably was never billed, or was billed incorrectly. I have to deal with Tricare (TFL) for my Mom and they are very good at handling the accounts. Incidentally, when you use a civilian doctor and a claim is filed with Tricare, the actual account administration is done by an insurance company contracted to do the work for the government. The best way to handle (IMO) is call the provider (hospital or doctor) talk to them about it, see what they say, then, in the same call, do a conference call to Tricare admin so they are both on the line at once, with you listening and commenting, asking questions. Boy does the story change!!! 99.9% of the time it is a billing error or they never billed it at all. They don't talk to each other, but this way, you can force them to.
FOLLOW UP: OK.. Well as it turns out this was the fault of the hospital. They have agreed to collect the amount from my insurance company and contact the CA to REMOVE the derogitory statement from my Credit reports....
Yayyyyyyy!! Was it the conference call that did it? It's a great technique. I had an obstinant dentist's office a few months ago and did the conference call with an attorney on - that helped a lot, LOLOL.
