I have (4) CA sending me letters to collect on the same debt for American Express. I am 5 years into the charge off (Per Amex) and can not afford to pay the bill. Each CA has different dates of last activity. Ranging from 2 months to 18 months in differences.

    What should I do?

BTW ...I have other accounts to that have been sent to multi-CA for the same debt with different dates of last activity?

Called the Credit Bureau's they are no help. lol

    Hi,

I can't tell you about AMEX, but I had the same thing happen to me with an old debt.

I disputed it as 'not mines', and it took about 2 months of back and forth, but it was deleted.

My thoughts were that the original debt was mines only, not the other duplicates.

My SOL was up a long time ago, so I wasn't worried about being sued.

I hope this helps, and good luck.............

Thanks, I can't believe what a difference my credit report would look like if I just had the OC reporting the charge off. I have a average of 2.5 CA for one OC debt. It looks like I have way more collection accounts than I really do.

    (9) OC Charge Off Accounts

    with a additional:

23 CA Accounts (For the original (9) charged off accounts)

    On each (3) credit bureaus.

That just makes me sick. All have different dates of last activity. Not one matches with the OC.

    Sick Sick Sick.........

What is even sadder, are the people who never check their credit reports.

I bet many people have multiple accounts on their reports.

Thank goodness, we were lucky to find this board. :)

So who really has my debts then. Each CA will say that they have the right to collect on the debt.

    For example:

Say I pay CA (1) that has the Amex Account.

But CA (2) and CA (3) are still reporting it unpaid. Is that a crock. What then. Just a mess.

I called alot of my original creditors to try to work out something with them, they say call the CA the account is with. I say it's been sent to (4) different CA. They say, we can't give you anymore info.......

I have a average of 2-4 CA trying to collect on just (1) debt. Who you gonna trust. I call each one and they say pay me, pay me... etc...etc...etc... LOL

    I don't know...

Could you send it to the first collection agency that received it?

If you send your dispute to the credit reporting agencies, I am guessing they will make the duplicates prove it is yours?

I did a dispute with the CRA on a OC account that had been sent to two different CA , both came back VERIFIED by both CA.

It's a crock. Each CA has my info and each CA will verify the debt as valid.

Both remain who do you pay??

I am not going to pay anyone. It's been 5 years for most of my charge-off's.

But what ticks me off is that for each of my charge off's it really looks like I owe a average of 3 CA.

Messing my fico up and not helping me rebuild.

Not to mention each CA has there own different date of last activity. These CA just make up dates.

I have found Asset Acceptance to be the worst CA to deal with. They lie, cheat , and lie somemore.

    Wow,

I really wish I could help.

    I am really stumped.

I forgot you said you already disputed with the CRA's.

You could keep bumping up your post so others who could answer it will see it.

    Whatever happens, good luck.

    Thanks,

Just imagine how many poor soles that are out there. If you have 2 or 3 OC charge-offs it could turn into 7 to 9 different CA reporting collection accounts on each CRA.

    Not good at all.

Disputing the debt with each different CA just reactivates the collection accounts and they "all" start calling you for the same debt.

This is there famous line. Pay me we are the real CA the account is with. They all say that............

How about asking each CA that is reporting the accounts on the credit reports to validate? I really don't think they would all be able to validate, therfore requiring them to delete their information from your credit reports.

On the Credit-Net Board validate may work, but in the real collection agency world (Asset Acceptance, Gulf State.OSI, Arrow) just a few that I am dealing with VALIDATION means nothing. I have sent 30-60 day letters, estopel, etc....just receive printouts and a ton of collection calls.

Validate may be good for "no brainer" accounts but when it's this screwed up and dealing with scum like these CA's they just laugh..............

BTW... Asset Acceptance said this after I sent them a validation letter and I "quote" I see that you have been surfing the net again to get letters like these. The collector said pay the bill and stop playing musical certified letters........ and I "quote"

Looks like they are on to this board...

    Nice People huh?

The attorneys name was Michael Beech from Asset Acceptance.

If you are dealing with him beware, he is a real SOB....
