Okay, so my bank withdrew over $1200 from my checking account today which was completely unauthorized by me. I called and they said there was not a thing they could do about it until Monday, oh, so sorry, yada yada. Bear in mind that my account is now overdrawn by $60 (and it would have been more, but I'd just gotten paid). Well, finally they conceded to honoring any checks I wrote this weekend (yeah, uh-huh, we'll see) and not charging any overdraft fees while they investigate, which will take "10 business days". Of course, there was just nobody I could complain to about this, because it is, after all, Saturday. Here's the kicker: They say they took the money to pay a loan that I owe to them. HOWEVER: Nowhere in their records can they find that I have any loan through them (because I don't!!!). But too bad, I'm still without my funds until they figure this out. Thing is, I think I have figured it out. My husband is a Jr., and his father (Sr.) has a loan through them and he's a month behind on $600 payments. SO there's the $1200. Apparently someone didn't check SSNs, and withdrew from MY account (my husband's name is on there just-in-case). Still, I can't withdraw any cash or use my check-card until they get off their duffs. So my question is -- does anybody here know of any recourse I will have against them for this? Do you have any links? They effectively stole my money, but I'm doubting they'll want to do anything to keep me as a customer. I thought that you fine folks who know way more than me about credit and banking might be able to lend my some advice. Help! P.S. I hope this isn't too convoluted. I am just SOOOOOO angry right now, argh!!! hehehee....
Do you have a bank officer? I would be sitting in is office when he/she walks in the door Monday morning.
My wife and kids are dragging me away from the computer (probably a good thing, given my addiction), so I have to say that I didn't read through your post yet. However I do love your headline, LOL. For what it's worth, banks are often staffed by morons. Doc
Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! The CHIMPANZEES can only do so much with the IDIOTS that they have to train!!!
Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! I would be in there MONDAY 9 am and DISCUSS IT WITH THE BRANCH MANAGER!!!
Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! I agree with George. Be there bright and early Monday morning. Theyshoud be able to fix this easily and give you something for your trouble.
If it's a local bank, I'd go to the main office and see at least a VP. If it's one of the big banks, I agree with sitting in the branch manager's office. Checking a SSN is a very easy thing to do!!
I am both a Bank Manager AND a mormon! Sounds like you have a very easy to understand and easily fixable problem. Any banking officer with overriding authority should be able to handle it. #1) Explain and show how the BANK took the money from your account. #2) Have them do an account search based on your SSN. The computer will show ALL accounts linked to your SSN - and the ABSENCE of any loan with the bank. #3) Have them do a NAME search for your husband's father's name with Sr. at the end (may have to help them verify his address). Verify if his loan is 1 or 2 months delinquent and should've charged HIS account and not yours. #4) Have your banker call the consumer loan department to verify which account they took the funds from and why. Tell them they were wrong and to put the money back and take it from the right account this time. #5) Have them reverse any fees on your account if you get hit with any NSF fees for not having the funds in your account DUE TO BANK ERROR. #6) If uncooperative, then sue them! This looks like an easy error for a bank to do, but also easy for them to fix and correct it.
It should be credited at close of business MONDAY!!! There is no reason it should take 10 business days!!!!!!!! THAT IS 2 WEEKS!!!!
Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! They sure did - If your bank is a national branch demand to see a local vice president of your area. If they don't deposit your money back into your account within 2 business days I would be seeing an attorney.
Re: Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! 2 BUSINESS DAYS??? WRONG!!!! CLOSE OF BUSINESS MONDAY!!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! Whatever.... thats just what I'd do personally. IN RED!!! HOWEVER YOU DO IT !!!!!!!!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! Ok, I'll qualify that. MY bank is staffed by morons, LOL. For anyone who took me at my word, I should have made it more obvious that I was kidding, sorry! I just thought his headline was attention-getting and hilarious. Doc
Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! And in my experience it is.
I once had a dimwit bank officer tell me that I never ordered checks from them (It had been 4 weeks and they hadn't arrived...so I went in.) When it was THAT LADY that filled the check order. She spent several minutes debating this with me - while I'm sitting here thinking let's see, I make more than you, I have a better education that you, and you're sitting here acting like I can't tie my own shoe laces.
Not only are bank employees morons, they're arrogant morons.
Re: Re: Re: Help! My Bank is full of Morons!!! I beg your pardon sir but that was an unjustified un called for personal attack. WHOM is the arrogant one ? You need to check your self buddy. I am far from an undeducated moron - I work as a Research specialist for one of the nations top lending companies. I probably "bank" more than you a year buddy and I am only fresh out of school, just starting my career.
